Thing 15

Library 2.0 means that technology is the tool that will navigate our quest for learning. As we embark upon this task, I think that school libraries will need to be better technologically equipped. Our librarians also need to be free to roam and support. They should not be part of lunch duty or a specials block. The library should be an open access area with extremely flexible scheduling.

As I read the articles, I envisioned a cafe type atmosphere where communities were being developed through conversations, blogs. The library is no longer that place that you entered into quietly. It should be the hub of the school and the community. There is a need for more than one librarian within this area to help meet the needs of so many learners. This cafe would be available 24 hours, 7 days a week through the use of the web.

Bring your own mug!

You understanding the importance of the library and havng the librarian available to help those who come there is very valuable! You can share that belief as decisions are made in your circle of influence.
