Thing 23

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
I enjoyed Flickr and Photostory. I found both to be user friendly. I now have options on tools to use to integrate technology into my lessons. I think my kids will produce better projects because they will also have options.

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
I will take a risk on an online program again. I will not feel intimidated by the mass of information on technology that I can use in my classroo.

Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
I was surprised at the amount of information that is out there. I feel like I have had my head in the ground.

What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
Sometimes it was difficult to understand what I needed to do because of the jargon and my lack of experience. It helped to read other people's posts. It would help to be able to chat live to get help with questions that hinder progress. Maybe even creating a phone network would help.

If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate?
Definitely!

How would you describe your learning experience in ONE WORD or in ONE SENTENCE, so we could use your words to promote 23 Things learning activities?
Amazing!!!!

Nings are a social networking community. I joined TeacherLingo and enjoyed reading messages and blogs. Most of all, I enjoyed searching for lessons that I can use and share with teachers on my campus. It's nice to be able to communicate with other people in our field. I don't know how much I will use Nings because of time, but I am glad it is available as a resource.

I love it! It's a great tool for kids. I enjoyed using Photostory, which was not difficult. If I can do it, I know the kids will be able to also.

What a privilege to be able to view so many videos. The most frustrating thing is the load time and not have the ability to view YouTube at school without having to send it through our complicated method. I think I can use these resources to integrate technology into my teaching. I'd like to see the kids also create a project where they use TeacherTube as a resource.

I decided to explore Spanishpod since Spanish is a second language in the US and a first language for me. I liked that the lessons are practical and that the staff responds to comments that have member needs. The staff directs the member to archived lessons that support learning. Spanishpod is useful in our libraries and schools because we service more and more parents and students whose first language is Spanish. I can support teachers who are interested in learning Spanish and would be interested in using Spanishpod.

I especially like Google Docs. Open Office took forever to download. The advantage of using either of these tools is that the info is saved in cyberspace instead on a computer that can crash. I also like that I can access my documents from any computer. I think I will be using Google Docs over Open Office. The disadvantage, of course, is internet access.

I love Rollyo. I customized a search on Pam Munoz Ryan that can used by teachers and/or be modified to be used by students. I think I will be using Rollyo quite a bit to help organize my teaching lessons. I can see myself spending lots of time searching and customizing. What a great tool for keeping us on task.

I'm not sure how to add a the link. I am registed as njyader06.
